Before I get started, this is NOT the closest beach near Bangkok. That honor would go to Pattaya City. Marriot Rayong Resort and Spa; however, still qualifies as VERY reasonable driving distance from Bangkok. Plus, the advantage it has over Pattaya City is that it is a stunning, family-friendly resort that offers a heavy dose of serenity. From the moment you enter the property, you can smell the sea and feel the beach vibes in the air. The open-concept design is also a key factor that enhances that experience.

The Entrance

The property itself boasts a booming 205 rooms. With that many choices, it is easy to find an option for any budget. Every room offers 360 views of either Rayong or the Gulf of Thailand. We opted for the panorama suite because, if you’re gonna stay beachside at a beach near Bangkok, you may as well have panoramic views of the sea!

In addition to the gorgeous rooms, the property is also packed with amenities. For the health conscious, there is a fully equipped fitness room along with a spa that offers several massage packages. The main restaurant features a delicious seafood buffet on weekends, there are multiple options for adult beverages, and also multiple pools as well. Speaking of pools, there are inflatables available for in-pool lounging and two water slides to add to the excitement! Just don’t make the mistake I did and walk into the pool with your phone in your pocket!!! Sidenote, while on that topic, the staff quickly provided Tupperware filled with rice for me to attempt to salvage my phone. That is what I call Grade A customer service. In case you’re wondering, which I know you are, my phone eventually did make a nearly full resurrection!

All in all, cell phone blunder aside, the Rayong Marriot Resort and Spa is a perfect getaway option as a beach near Bangkok for those short on time.
